Wyoming – The Equality State

Wyoming earned its nickname as the Equality State because it was the first to give women the right to vote, serve on juries and hold public office. The bill was passed and signed into law in 1869 while Wyoming was still a territory. It was admitted as the 44th state in 1890.

Before becoming a U.S. Territory, the area of Wyoming had at various times been claimed by France, England, Mexico, Spain and Texas. While still a territory, Yellowstone National Park was created in 1872 – the country’s first national park. Other national parks and monuments in Wyoming include: Grand Teton National Park, Devils Tower National Monument, Fossil Butte National Monument and six national forests.

Agriculture and ranching have been historically important to Wyoming’s economy. The oldest and largest outdoor rodeo in the world has taken place in the state since 1897, contributing to Wyoming’s other nickname, “The Cowboy State.”

Today, the drivers of Wyoming’s economy are mining, particularly coal, and tourism. Wyoming is the number one coal producer in the U.S., and the tourism industry is estimated to generate more than $1 billion in revenue.

    1. Refinancing or taking out a home equity loan or line of credit may increase the total number of monthly payments and/or the total amount paid when compared to your current situation.

    2. Affects pricing. With the No Closing Cost Refi Option, borrowers finance the closing costs instead of paying for them at closing. Borrowers who pay closing costs at closing may qualify for a lower interest rate. Some upfront fees (ex. credit report and appraisal) may apply and may be credited at closing. Call for details.

    3. The relative benefits of a consolidation loan may vary over time and will depend on individual circumstances. The longer the property and loan at a new lower rate and term is kept, the more interest savings can be realized when compared to your current situation. The repayment period of a mortgage loan can generally be shortened when additional funds above scheduled monthly mortgage payments are consistently paid and applied to reduce the loan balance.
