Idaho - Famous for Its Potatoes

Idaho was the 43rd state to be admitted to the union in 1890. Because of its remote western location, the state was not explored by white Americans until Lewis and Clark led their famous expedition through the area in 1805. They were followed in a few years by trappers and "mountain men"

The Oregon and California trails passed through Idaho carrying many settlers to the West Coast. Only Mormon settlers moved into Idaho in the southern part of the state. After the California gold fields were played out, explorers began searching for gold in other western states.

Gold was discovered in Idaho in 1860, which finally spurred rapid settlement as people hoped to "strike it rich" The state was also mined for silver and lead.

At the time, Idaho was part of Washington Territory. Settlers petitioned for their own territory, which was created by President Lincoln in 1863.

Idaho also has a rich agricultural history. Excellent growing conditions created the exceptional potatoes that made Idaho famous. Today about one fourth of all the potatoes in the U.S. are grown in Idaho. The state's top agricultural products are dairy products and cattle, followed by potatoes.

    1. Refinancing or taking out a home equity loan or line of credit may increase the total number of monthly payments and/or the total amount paid when compared to your current situation.

    3. The relative benefits of a consolidation loan may vary over time and will depend on individual circumstances. The longer the property and loan at a new lower rate and term is kept, the more interest savings can be realized when compared to your current situation. The repayment period of a mortgage loan can generally be shortened when additional funds above scheduled monthly mortgage payments are consistently paid and applied to reduce the loan balance.
