10 Child Safety Tips to Make Your Home Safer
There’s nothing more precious to you than your children. And no priority greater than keeping them safe. Use this child safety checklist to help make your home safer for your children.
Child Safety Tips
1. Install safety latches and locks on cabinets and drawers in kitchens, bathrooms and other areas as needed
2. Install safety gates at the top and bottom of stairs and near dangerous areas.
3. Install smoke detectors near bedrooms and on every floor in your home.
4. Install carbon monoxide detectors outside bedrooms.
5. Turn down water heater to 120 degrees or install anti-scald devices on faucets or showerheads to prevent burns.
6. Install window guards and safety netting to prevent falls from high windows or balconies and decks.
7. Install corner and edge guards on sharp edges of furniture and fireplace hearths to soften any falls.
8. Install outlet covers to prevent electrocution.
9. Cut window blind cords or install special cord safety devices to prevent strangulation.
10. Install locking latches on appliances that open and close; refrigerators, ovens, dishwashers
